1. What BookToAnki Does

BookToAnki is a web application that processes user-provided text files — EPUB, PDF, and TXT — to automatically extract vocabulary words, determine their CEFR difficulty level using natural language processing, fetch translations, generate example sentences, and package the results as Anki flashcard decks (.apkg), CSV, plain text, or Notion-compatible Markdown exports.

Optional text-to-speech audio generation is available for vocabulary cards. Community deck sharing allows users to publish decks publicly so others can download and study from them.

2. Account & Authentication

Accounts are created via Google OAuth. By signing in, you authorize us to receive your Google profile name and email address for the purpose of identifying your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the service, or engage in fraudulent activity.

3. User-Uploaded Content

You retain full ownership of files you upload. By submitting a file, you grant BookToAnki a temporary, non-exclusive license to process the content solely to deliver the requested vocabulary extraction and deck generation. Uploaded files are not permanently stored; they are processed and deleted from our servers once the job is complete.

You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to submit the content you upload and that doing so does not violate any applicable law or third-party rights, including copyright. BookToAnki is not responsible for any copyright infringement arising from content you upload.

4. Generated Decks & Exports

Vocabulary decks generated by the service are stored in your account and are available for personal study use. When you publish a deck to the community, you grant other BookToAnki users the right to view and download it. You can make a deck private or delete it at any time.

You may not redistribute generated decks commercially or represent them as products independent of their source material without appropriate rights to that material.

5. Pro Subscription & Billing

Some features — including additional export formats (CSV, TXT, Notion Markdown) and higher processing limits — require a Pro subscription. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis.

Merchant of Record: All payments are processed by Dodo Payments as the Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments is responsible for payment processing, invoicing, and applicable tax collection. Purchases are subject to the Dodo Payments Merchant Acceptance Policy.

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; access to Pro features remains active until then. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time unless required by applicable law. For billing disputes, contact us at contact@bkbr.net.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that violates copyright or other intellectual property rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the service
• Use the service in a way that disrupts or overloads our infrastructure
• Create accounts or generate decks using automated scripts without authorization
• Publish community decks containing illegal, harmful, defamatory, or sexually explicit content
• Circumvent subscription restrictions or share account access with others

7. Third-Party Services

BookToAnki relies on third-party services to operate, including Google (OAuth, Translate API, Text-to-Speech API), and Dodo Payments (billing). Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not liable for the conduct or availability of third-party providers.

8. Intellectual Property

BookToAnki, its logo, the NLP pipeline, card templates, and the overall service design are owned by or licensed to BookToAnki. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or proprietary assets outside of using the service as intended.

9. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of CEFR tags, translations, or generated content. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BookToAnki is not liable for any indirect, translations, or generated content. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BookToAnki is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including data loss or failed exports.

10. Changes & Termination

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time, which will remove your stored decks and vault audio.
