Terms of Service

1. What BookToAnki Does

BookToAnki is a web application that processes user-provided text files — EPUB, PDF, and TXT — to automatically extract vocabulary words, estimate difficulty, provide translations and related study data, and package the results as study decks and exports.

Users can keep decks private in their account or choose to publish decks to the community for others to view and download.

2. Account & Authentication

Accounts are created via Google OAuth. By signing in, you authorize us to receive your Google profile name and email address for the purpose of identifying your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the service, or engage in fraudulent activity.

3. User-Uploaded Content

You retain full ownership of files you upload. By submitting a file, you grant BookToAnki a temporary, non-exclusive license to process the content solely to deliver the requested extraction, deck generation, and export features. Uploaded files are processed and deleted after the job completes and are not made available for later re-download.

You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to submit the content you upload and that doing so does not violate any applicable law or third-party rights, including copyright. If you believe a public deck or other content on the service infringes your rights, contact contact@bkbr.net. We may remove or restrict access to reported content while we review it.

4. Generated Decks & Exports

Decks generated by the service are stored in your account for your personal study use. If you publish a deck to the community, other users may be able to view and download that deck until it is removed from public listing.

If you later delete or unpublish a public deck, we will stop serving it from our public listing. However, copies already downloaded by other users cannot be fully recalled by us.

You may not use the service to republish source material in a way that infringes third-party rights, and you may not commercially redistribute generated decks without any rights required for the underlying source material.

5. Free Service

BookToAnki is provided free of charge. All features — including PDF upload, all export formats, private decks, and vocabulary extraction — are available without payment. We may impose reasonable daily usage limits to maintain service quality for all users.

We reserve the right to modify rate limits, feature availability, or introduce changes to the service at any time. For questions, contact contact@bkbr.net.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that violates copyright or other intellectual property rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the service
• Use the service in a way that disrupts or overloads our infrastructure
• Create accounts or generate decks using automated scripts without authorization
• Publish community decks containing illegal, harmful, defamatory, or sexually explicit content
• Circumvent subscription restrictions or share account access with others

7. Third-Party Services

BookToAnki relies on third-party services to operate, including Google for authentication. Use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not liable for the conduct or availability of third-party providers.

8. Intellectual Property

BookToAnki, its logo, the NLP pipeline, card templates, and the overall service design are owned by or licensed to BookToAnki. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or proprietary assets outside of using the service as intended.

9. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that generated word lists, translations, classifications, or exports will always be complete, accurate, or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookToAnki is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Changes & Termination

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms. We may also remove public decks, disable sharing, or restrict accounts when reasonably necessary to address abuse, legal risk, or third-party complaints.
